MedGar Evers
Medgar Evers was born in Decatur, Mississippi and that is where he lived and went to school until he joined the Army in 1943. After voting in a local election Edgar along with five other friends were forced away with guns being pointed at them due to their skin color. After getting married and graduating from college Evers and his wife moved to Mound Bayou, Mississippi where Medgar would work for T.R.M. Howard; the president of the Regional Council of Negro Leadership. Evers then began planning events such as the boycott of service stations that would not allow African Americans to use their restrooms. After being denied into the segregated Law school of the University of Mississippi the NAACP focused on what happened to Evers as part of their case to desegregate the school thus Evers became the NAACP's first field officer in Mississippi. Evers was involved in many other boycotts and played an important role in the desegregation of The University of Mississippi. Due to his success Evers also had many enemies of the white race, Evers received many threats and survived many near death experiences before he was assassinated on his own driveway.
